Converting waste into power

POWERING BUSINESSES BY OPTIMIZING WASTES

AGRICULTURE. Investing in renewable energy sources presents an opportunity for the agricultural industry to benefit both economically and environmentally without impacting the nature of their business. Leftover organic materials can be optimized to generate biogas, a renewable fuel source that can be converted to renewable power through combined heat and power (CHP). When the combination of animal waste and agricultural product is anaerobically digested, agricultural biogas is created. This form of biogas can be used as fuel in Flex Turbines to generate electricity in an environmentally favorable format.

FOOD PROCESSING. Due to its need for significant amounts of both electrical and thermal energy the food processing industry has tremendous potential to benefit from CHP applications. Immediate economic and environmental gains can be realized when facilities switch from the unreliable grid to CHP from Flex Turbines®. Cogeneration by Flex Turbines repurposes heat at the site rather than expending added energy to eliminate it. In turn it produces clean, efficient power and helps:

  • reduce the environmental impact of the facility,
  • cut the facility’s greenhouse gas emissions,
  • enable continued facility operations during power shortages and blackouts,
  • reduce energy costs, and
  • mitigate the strain on the local electricity grid.
