MORE RELIABLE POWER FOR SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER COST
Throughout Pennsylvania, many large commercial and industrial consumers of energy pay anywhere from $0.10 to $0.19 per kWh on average for bundled electricity (generation + transmission + distribution). Meanwhile, reliability of the power supply from the grid is never a sure bet. Substantial business, safety, or health impacts can result due to grid interruptions or outages.
A typical industrial or commercial facility’s electricity is distributed by the local power plant and a boiler is used to supplement facility heating. However, nearly two-thirds of the energy from this configuration is wasted in the form of heat released into the atmosphere.
With cogeneration, heat that is otherwise wasted is captured as useful thermal energy. Electricity is generated on-site and resulting thermal energy can be used for space heating, cooling, hot water, or other processes. This increases a facility’s energy efficiency from about 33% up to as much as 75%, deriving considerable energy cost savings.
With their proven reliability, Flex Turbines are an ideal power alternative to the bundled generation, transmission and distribution scenario, with lower environmental impact and at a far lower cost. Plus, Pennsylvania offers a number of loan programs, rebates, and other financial incentives to help non-residential customers improve their energy efficiency and lower their energy costs with cogeneration.
